PROPHET AND COEXISTENCE ETHICS
In the verse I read Our Allmighty Lord Allah says: "O mankind, indeed We have created you from a male and a female and made you peoples and tribes that you may know one another. Indeed, the most noble of you in the sight of Allah is the most righteous of you. Indeed, Allah is Knowing and Acquainted."1
In the hadith I read our Prophet (PBUH) says: " O people! Your God is one and your forefather (Adam) is one. An Arab has no superiority over a non-Arab, nor does a non-Arab have any superiority over an Arab; a white has no superiority over a black, nor does a black have any superiority over a white; [none have superiority over another] except by piety and good action. "2
Our adventure in stage of existence began with the creation of Adam. We are subjected to an examination in our this adventure. In addition, as a human family, we are saddled with a heavy responsibility that will continue until the Day of Judgment. We all have been charged for a duty, to build up this world, this realm which we live together.
However, this lofty goal, the wisdom of creation forgotten at times. The history has witnessed many supremacy races between brethren from the same essence, consuming the values in this regard, actions incompatible with human dignity and honor, persecutions and massacres.
The Lord of the worlds warned the humanity again through Muhammad Mustafa (PBUH). Revealed to him the book of life, the Koran; Keeping the unity, morality, rights and justice all the times alive.
The Prophet of Mercy, once again reminded mankind the humanity by its teachings of rights, truth, morality and kindness. He cried out his mercy and justice installed message, that all humanbeings are esteemed as servants of God, one more time. The Messenger of Allah taught us the real equality between people. The history of humanity witnessed the most splendid examples of holiness of the life, property, belief and the dignity of mankind through his practices. The divine principles he voiced was the basis of this understanding; "whoever kills a soul unless for a soul or for corruption [done] in the land - it is as if he had slain mankind entirely. And whoever saves one - it is as if he had saved mankind entirely. " 3
The Prophet (PBUH) put forth an exceptional effort to remove the barriers against living humanely, like marginalization, exclusion, contempt, disapproval and intolerance for other thoughts. He said, "You're all from Adam and Adam created from the soil. "4 He destroyed the false values of the age of ignorance based on race, position, fame, fortune and asperity. The Prophet converted a society consisting of a people did not hesitate to kill his brother to survive, into a society struggling to survive for their brothers.
My Precious Brothers!
Our ancient civilization that takes its roots from teachings of Messenger of Allah (PBUH) exhibited the most beautiful examples of living together. For centuries, especially in Anatolia, the different religions, languages, races, creed and sects lived in the Islamic geography together in peace and trust on the basis of respect for fundamental rights and freedoms. Many of the human virtues such as trust, confidence, tolerance, love, respect, sharing and solidarity can be seen in this civilization. This civilization raised thinkers and philosophers like Yunus Emre who said " tolerate the created for the sake of creator ". This civilization raised Dervishes and Sufi’s like Mewlana Jalaleddin Rumi who said; "It is that you are me, and I am you, Why we fight so much with ourselves? " These are our gifts to the humanity.
It should be noted with regret; cohabitation issue has become one of the foremost problems of today's society. Today, we can observe hate speech and negative discrimination polices against Muslims in some western communities that has a harmful effect on cohabitation and living together. Unfortunately, also in some Islamic societies internal conflicts arise because of ideological discrimination, sectarianism and racism. Innocent lives are being slain, history and culture of cities are destroyed.
We, as Muslims, are obliged to comply with the refreshing principles of the Qur'an in all conditions. We bound to follow the “beyond ages exemplary” of Last Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). It should be noted that: the way to escape from the spiral of violence for humanity and Islamic Ummah is available in our Holy Book Koran and the Prophet’s mercy and wisdom installed messages. The way to peace and reliance in our homeland geography depends on clinging to the unique Islamic principles which build civilizations. To see differences not as the cause of conflict and destruction, but as proofs of divine power. The way to vaccinate our hearts and humanity with peace, harmony, mercy, compassion, justice and virtue passes through reenlivening the ethics of cohabitation.
By this means our Presidency of Religious Affairs, in order to draw attention to the essential principles of coexistence and to create public awareness on this issue, has taken up the theme "The Prophet and Cohabitation Ethics ".for celebration the week of Holy Birth of Prophet (PBUH). In the events to be held during the week, the issue of cohabitation will be taken up with all aspects, in the framework of a the examplary put forward by the Prophet (PBUH).
We ask Almighty Allah to make the” Holy Birth Week” cause for consolidation the love and devotion of our Prophet in our society and to strengthen the feelings of love, respect, familiarity, affection, brotherhood, sharing and solidarity in our society.
